I have spent the last two weeks looking for home DIY camera software for a residence. The plan was about 6-8 cameras, and when I started I knew very little about the available tools and how the cameras vs VMS systems worked.
Two weeks later I think I have narrowed my choice down to Xeoma, or Blue Iris. My preference is Xeoma, and I plan to start there.
I took a look a tthese products: iSpy, XProtect GO, AxxonNext, Zoneminder, BlueIris and Xeoma.
I wrote up my experiences here, if anyone is curious: http://www.leferguson.com/writeups-projects/security-camera-video-management-my-search
(Sorry I cannot post that as a real URL, I can't figure out how to make the forum allow it.)
My main concern in going with Xeoma is that it seems lightly used, and a bit buggy. I am quite impressed by the support staff's responsiveness to questions and problems, so I have hope I will either find my mistakes or they will fix the issues.
