Save/restore settings for licensed soft

Postby baccarat » Sat Aug 13, 2016 9:50 am

Hello

Using Xeoma for Linux. After Linux server reboots all settings are reset (this is NOT Xeoma issue, just Linux server is protected that way). Then all settings are setup by scripts again. (And we re-activate Xeoma every time server reboots.)

Copying of settings.dat file after reboot not working correctly. Especially if Xeoma version changed. If we copy the file BEFORE activation - settings are not restored (which is reasonable). If we copy AFTER activation - it is restored wrong way and doesn't work correctly.

Would you suggest correct way instantly to restore settings from the file?
OR even better - have an option in the program to IMPORT/EXPORT settings, which work OK for all versions.

Hi! Thanks for bringing this up! We've already added this function in Xeoma. You can Import/export settings through Xeoma-Main menu-Install-Export/Import setting. Have you tried it? Did it help?

Import/export? Since what version? Don't see it on mine and have been trying to migrate the install to a better machine. What a mess - seems there was no reliable procedure before import/export to do the job? Things got strange with copying .dat file and at first Xeoma said I had no cameras available on my license and then after several failed installs will not activate. Pfft! Sigh....

Hello! The export/import option has been added in the version 16.5.18 (you can always check this page for detailed descriptions of each version). You can save the current settings by going Main menu -> Install -> Restore -> Export settings. This will create 2 files: .dat and .cache - you can move them anywhere for later use. To restore Xeoma to those settings simply go Main menu -> Install -> Restore -> Import settings and choose those files.
If you are experiencing activation issues, please try resetting your license here. If this returns an error, please contact us over e-mail - we'll gladly help you.
