Motion Events exist in the zero hour out of order

Hi,

I am having an issue here with Xeoma - See the attached images. One is of the web interface and the other is of the local console interface.

In the web interface I am having motion events after the 1700 hour displayed as in the zero hour and there appears to be no data to them. When I select one of these 00:00:xx entries, no video begins playing and the time playing counter at the bottom right hand corner of the screen shows for a brief second my selection (for example 00:00:57) and then starts counting up from 00:00:00. What is also strange is there appears to be duplicate entries (You can see on the screenshot there are two entries for 00:00:57)

I have attached images of the local console and the web interface. I was also able to find footage on the local console which I could not find on the web console.

I must be able to correct this if I am going to continue to use it. I am currently running this on Fedora and understand that is not supported, but was wondering if you have seen this behavior before. If this is an issue that affects more than just myself, I am willing to work to help you solve this issue. I can start up a virtual machine of Ubuntu and run it from there in a supported environment.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Last week I reinstalled my computer completely to CentOS. This issue has disappeared now.

I am still very curious as to how timestamps are rendered so differently (and problematically!) between these two very similar linux distros.

On the new installation I bought a license for two cameras. Can you please advise best way to import my previous license of 4 cameras into my new installation as well? All hardware (including the computer) remain the same with exception of the hard drive. Is there a license key uninstallation procedure I can perform before I erase and re-purpose the original hard drive which has Fedora on it?

Well I spoke too soon. This is happening again on the CentOS installation. Please see attachment.

It is currently 8:56pm (20:56). Every motion event after 19:59 tonight is listed as 00:xx instead of 20:xx.
And again, they are not in chronological order and there are duplicates. Also I get no video playback when selecting any of these.

If it helps to know, I am seeing the same behavior on both cameras (unviewable 00:xx entries following 19:59) so it appears to be a system-wide issue, and not a problem with any one particular camera. Also, I have seen this happen at different hours, it is not always following 19:59.

This is version 18.11.21. Where do we start to identify the reason for this?

More information: It appears that a folder for 04-09-2019 has already been created, but the 2019-04-09 is in the future. All events in 2019-04-09 folder are timestamped by the system as April 08 2019.

It seems (at a glance to me) that the software is organizing the file tree as per UTC time and not the local time set on the server which is causing a disconnect between file timestamps (based on server time) and the folders they are arranged inside of (based on UTC).

It is also very interesting to see that inside folder for 2019-04-07, there are files between the hours of 20:00-23:59 from the previous day (2019-04-06). Interestingly, these are the hours that are missing from 2019-04-07. The same holds true for folder of today, 2019-04-08.

I hope this helps point you to a solution or at least a root cause.

For anybody having this issue, I found the solution to be adding the switch -uselocaltime when starting the Xeoma service.

Specifically, I modified file /etc/systemd/system/XeomaCoreService.service.
There was a line that read:

ExecStart=/root/bin/Xeoma/xeoma -service -startdelay 10

I changed this to read:

Code: Select All Code

ExecStart=/root/bin/Xeoma/xeoma -uselocaltime -service -startdelay 10

Beware that if you run an update, this may be reverted back - I just noticed this after performing an update to 19.4.22.
