Hello and thank you for using Xeoma and your question!
The Sound Alarm module can play sounds on the server side or on the client side (only in Xeoma Pro). Why do you feel this is not appropriate for a motion notification? You could have a client on that device that you'd like to get an alarm to, unless of course it's an unsupported device.
If that's a smart phone we're talking about, you could also use the Push notification for a mobile phone (available in Standard): https://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/articles/mobile-notifications/ The feature gives an alert configured for all alerts in your phone/tablet, so it might be a sound too.
If you're describing a kind of two-way audio where the audio file is played on the camera side, we don't have that yet in Xeoma, and when we add it, it will be probably for just a couple of cameras, or for ONVIF-supporting cameras that can play sounds at best. So not for all cameras, unfortunately. The camera must be able to play sounds AND receive commands to do so for this feature to work so the range of such cameras will be limited.
You can subscribe to our newsletter to know when it's available: https://felenasoft.com/en/subscribe/
Is that what you were looking for? Or did you mean inserting a sound file into the recorded camera feed? (if the latter - why?)
