Linux Server & Remote Client issue

Postby USMCguy » Fri Apr 15, 2016 10:51 pm

I just happened to be searching for a new linux surv. software when I found this one today. I downloaded the latest release version(2016-4-8). I ran it with the -core flag.

I then downloaded the Mac OS X Client. I pointed it to the port and specified password (provided by -showpassword). The client gives me the error:
Make sure that server part of Seoma is working on PC with IP address ...:8090

I also tried with the iPhone client. It gives the "No Connection" error.

I tried running the app with a normal user and in "Sudo" mode. Both had the same results.

18:57:02.681 Start log
18:57:28.583 Core: Can't start Core.End log

This is what I found when I started the app with the -log flag. I checked the syslog and dmesg logs on my system and found nothing related. Any ideas? Is there a way to get more verbose information from the app to troubleshoot this?

Hi! Sorry for the long wait.

First off, which Linux distro exactly do you use? Please make sure that it matches the list of supported Linux distros.

Next, before you try remote access from mobile device, could you tell us, is Xeoma working on your Linux at all? Try to find "xeoma" process in top/htop. Also, if yours is a Linux with a graphical shell, try to launch Xeoma client part as well, and see if it connects to the server part, and you can see cameras, change settings, etc.

Here's the guide on working with Xeoma on Linux, it will guide you through all steps - from download to launch.

If none of this works, try to launch Xeoma without the -core flag and see if it runs, then send us an output from the console so that we know what exactly is going on.

If Xeoma works on your Linux and it's just the remote access that bothers you, please make sure that you have Xeoma's port 8090 forwarded for access from outside of the "local" network. Please confirm that it's about the remote access and we'll work from there.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
