What do the numbers mean

When xeoma records something, both the folders and files have numbers after them.
IE: Preview+Archive.12 etc.
These folders hold sub folders with the dates of recording, and then under h264, the files have some obscure numbering system.
IE: 1261_05_29.mkv.

If somone could give me a simple explanation, that would make it a bit easier for me when veiwing the folders.

Thanks fo that, but what does the number on the end of Preview+Archive mean, like Preview+Archive.18 for example. I ask because on different days, the folder names are the same with respect to the number.

These are names of the archives, you can assign them freely via Preview and Archive settings:
