Record only on motion detected??

Postby avalon66 » Thu Jun 13, 2019 7:59 pm

is there a way of using the Object Detector , or any other module to record and take pictures when it detects or sees an object like a car or person walking.

Presently I have xeoma set to record and take pictures overnight , but that results in pictures of nothing mostly. There's maybe a tree or bush blowing but that's all.

You can use the Motion Detector module. In the settings of the module, you can specify the area of motion detection. To avoid false alarms, you can determine the minimum and the maximum size of objects to which the module will respond. Thanks, that's great, and I've set 2 cameras up the same as the settings in the link you gave.

One other thing tho: what should I have the scheduler set to now the Motion Detector has been set up. I presently have it set to a start and finish time. Could I deselect the days it is set to , and just use the Motion Detector.

Thanks

Sure. Or you could just remove the Scheduler from your chain.

Does the Motion Detector send any pictures or video to my server as it would with continuos recording , if I don't have sms or email modules for the cameras.

I have 2 cameras setup to send me emails when motion is detected, but either motion is not detected or the email part is not working, as I have had no emails for 2 days since the cameras were set that way.
I have manually setup the smpt server for gmail and to use SSL to my gmail address, but no sent from. Clicking the Test link, doesn't result in anything

This problem sometimes happens with Gmail. Specific mail server settings are required. Please try another mail service.

Thanks for the reply, but to clarify it is the incoming server which accepts the email, so would that be imap.google.com. I had smtp.google.com.

Which email server do you use which works for you, just out of interest.

I have now tried hotmail, which I selected from the list, and a virginmedia manual email setup.
Hotmail is now outlook.live.com, if that would make any difference.

Update:
neither hotmail nor vriginmedia works with xeoma, as neither of them don't send any email even as a test.
What do you use to send you emails from xeoma.#

Thanks
