merging archives

Last November (iirc) I noticed my xeoma was barfing on startup. I am just now able to get around to doing something about it. I have decided rather than fix the old setup to just do a whole new install on a new system. Of course, this will necessitate relearning everything.
In looking at migrating archives to the new system I notice I actually have two sets of archives. I vaguely remember that something went tu a while back (according to the dates, it was probably mid-2020) and again, being short of time and resources it looks like I just renamed the XeomaArchive to a date and started a new one.

So here's my first silly question in this whole project.

1a. Can these two archives be merged?
1b. if 'yes', can the soon-to-be-newly-installed xeoma be configured to simply append archive to the resulting merged XeomaArchive?

Hi! Yes, archives can be merged as long as the directory tree remains the same. Here is a simple example:
-suppose you have a new directory .../XeomaArchive/Preview+Archive.2/
-inside it has individual folders for separate dates (e.g. 2022-02-01, 2022-02-02, etc.)
-suppose you have an old directory .../ArchiveBackup/Preview+Archive.2/
-inside it also has individual folders for older dates (e.g. 2022-01-01, 2022-01-02, etc.)
-you can move the date-folders from the old directory to the new one
-after you start Xeoma it will recognize the older archives for this cam and keep adding new footage to that same general directory (Preview+Archive.2)

How about files such as 'archive.db' in the old XeomaArchive ? What should I do (if anything) with it?

Will anything need to be done with the 'archive.cache' file or 'Database' directory in the current XeomaArchive after the old Preview+Archive dir/files are copied over?

No, Xeoma generates all those files automatically while working with the archives, so you don't need to move them manually.
