Changing path for archive

I'm running Ubuntu. I've tried to change the path to where the archives are saved but don't see the change.
Do changes take place immediately or is it delayed or is a restart needed?
Also, what works best? A path to a device or a symbolic link, etc.?

Thanks

Dave

Hi there Dave,

The changes are applied as soon as you click on OK button. No restart needed. Perhaps, if you are using Motion Detector, there's simply no motion at the moment so nothing gets stored to the new directory? Please check your Motion Detector's settings to make sure it's not that.
Or you have specified the wrong path.

It's better to enter the direct path to the folder. It should work with symbolic links as well but still, direct paths are better.

Thanks. I didn't notice that root owned the drive. I fixed that and things are working.
I'll have more questions!

Dave
