PTZ & Archive Access Via Web Server

Postby bretzle » Fri Jun 21, 2013 2:41 pm

Nice functionality guys. Intuitive too. I've just installed it on my Ubuntu server and it seems to be running well.

From what I can gather the web server only offers video streams at this stage. Is this correct? Do you have any plans of implementing PTZ and Archive review via the web server?

Cheers.

Thank you, we are very glad you like our product!

Yes, at the moment the web server offers real-time view of image and video streams.

May I ask you for what purposes you need implementing PTZ and Archive view via the web server? Perhaps Xeoma's simple client-server connection will do? Along with view of real-time or archived footage and PTZ control, it also offers remote control over cameras' and other modules' settings in general.

Or, if you'd like to view and control cameras via mobile devices, there's another way to do it. We are working on an Android client right now. It is going to be released soon (the beta version is already available on our site). After that we’ll develop the iOS app as well.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have downloaded the android client and it's working well. There is a slight bug where it seems to reset the menu when you change orientation though. Looking forward to the iOS client.

The main reason I'd like remote control via the web browser is for control when I'm at work where I can't easily install the client. My camera does have this functionality however it isn't encrypted and each request is sent with my user name and password for the IT department to easily see.

Another thing I've noticed while trialling your client is the archive seems rather limited. I can only see the last archived video (example a few hours history) and I can't seem to look back through older recordings. They are in the save directory but aren't accessible via the client. Is there something I'm missing in the interface or settings to improve this?

Thanks again.

What concerns the android client, the orientation issue will be fixed in the next version.

Please subscribe to our newletter to be the first to know when the new version of Android client and iOS app are released. http://felenasoft.com/en/subscribe/

Speaking about the archive, are you encountering this problem using a remote access only, or is it the same when you try to connect locally? Please, check also the archive settings. Probably there's a time limitation for storing data?

I will check the settings again when I get home. I believe I have the archive set to 5 days. Though I'm still running the trial version.

So it is clear now. The thing is the trial version has an unlimited functionality, but the settings are being reset every 48 hours. Accordingly, you cannot view the footage older than 48 hours.

However, you can make use of one of our special offers and get the license for free or just http://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/buy/ to buy the license.

Switching to commercial version will enable you to store the archive data as long as you need.

I'm running Xeoma on my ubuntu server and accessing it via the client on my windows PC. I can access the (headless) server via command line only so can't view the viewer locally. What I'm going to do now (trial period has expired) is set it up again to archive for 1 day. From experience it only archives 12 hours or so but I'll let you know what settings I use and how it behaves. It may just have been a configuration error on my part.

Also I'm trying to take advantage of your single licence Facebook offer. I have used your contact form to notify you but I notice that you would like it to be sent from my email account. What is the best address for me to email so I can give you my Facebook details?

Cheers.
