Beta 14.10.24 Warning: slow network

Postby bretzle » Wed Oct 29, 2014 11:12 am

Hello,

I've just started testing the new beta and at first the archive playback seemed terrific with little decoding and smooth playback at 10x speed.

Later though it's hanging between motion events displaying 'Warning: slow network, frames may be dropped', then it decodes, plays back the snippet and goes back to the slow network warning at the next motion event.

LAN: My network speed between the client (windows) and server (linux) is around 669Mb/s.
Server CPU: Normal CPU load during decoding/playback is 20% across the 4 cores. I did see a peak load average peak at 1.83 which is still less than 50% of my cpu capacity.
Server RAM: Mem sits around 1376 of 7644 the whole time.

Video storage drive is an older sata drive which I don't know the details off hand. I can try to find the i/o speeds if needed.

Don't really know what's going on. Let me know if there are any tests I can do. Otherwise I'll just wait to see if anyone else has any dramas.

Cheers.

Hi!

Thanks for testing the new beta! What format do you store archives in (h264 or xem), what fps and resolution do the streams have?
Also, can you film and send us a video showing what you encounter? What we'd like to see is how long this message hangs and how often it appears.

I have h264 selected but it doesn't always save in that format.

I just played back video today from a xem archive and didn't see the issue. I'm currently wiping my archive and will start afresh with xem only. I'll report back with the results.

The videos where it mostly happens are recording 1280x720 as h264 max frames which should be around 30fps from a maygion and a cheap foscam clone. The one just tested and worked is 640x480 recording in xem at 30fps, authentic foscam.

If it repeats i'll send you a recording.
