I've installed a Xeoma server for ARM processor on Raspberry Pi (without GUI). Forwarded the ports on my router.
Then I installed Xeoma on Mac OS X so I can configure cameras on the GUI. Then I connected successfully over the Xeoma server to the Rasperry Pi.

Now my question:
How is it possible to save the archive files of the video recordings on a harddisk connected with the Raspberry Pi? It seems it only saves the files on my Mac ...

Thank you for posting your Raspberry Pi setup! I was struggling yesterday, trying to launch the client via the RPi GUI but it wasn't working. Setting up Xeoma as a server on the RPi and using a Mac or Win laptop to host the client worked perfectly for me!

To return the favour, I have successfully set up Xeoma to record to the USB drive connected to my RPi. I assume you know how to mount the HDD to a directory within the Pi filesystem - I mounted mine to /media/CCTVFootage as the drive is only going to be used for this purpose.

Go into your camera chain, and select (or add) the Preview & Archive module. There is a field in there that defaults to the /usr/local/Xeoma folder, replace that with the path to your mounted drive (e.g., /media/CCTVFootage/). I also changed the name of the archive folder in the adjacent field to something more meaningful than the default. But that's not necessary for it to work.

Save the changes. That should do it!

Note: when I tried this using the trial version of the client, it didn't record anything. But it did start recording when I downloaded a free copy of the Xeoma client from the download link supplied after subscribing to the newsletter. It only recorded the last hour of footage as the server was still a trial. But I have a serial number now, so hopefully those restrictions will be lifted.

P.S., Make sure you have actually set your cameras up on the server, and not locally on your Mac. You do this by going to the Remote Access option on the menu, and logging in via the RPi's IP address, and the network password that was generated during server install (you can retrieve this via the -showpassword option on the original Xeoma.app).

I hope I'm not pointing out the obvious, it's just that when you first open the client on your Mac, it automatically searches for cameras on the network, and sets the software up to record locally. You need to cancel that process, and instead go to the Remote Access option, then after logging into the RPi server, start searching for, or manually adding your cameras.
