Defender 8CH PRO Security DVR

I'm running Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 64 bit version 2.6.13 with 197.5 GB HHD space. My DVR is a
Defender
8CH PRO Security DVR
with 1TB HDD & Smartphone Compatibility (21101)
Will Xeoma work with my DVR? The local IP is 192.168.1.4 and client port is 9000. It searches and no cam is found.
Thanks

Hey Admin_K. I've been waiting now for about two weeks for an answer. There is no way of doing this is there. This is just like ZoneMinder and with ZoneMinder you need a video capture card. Can't be done with a laptop.

Hello!

What version of Xeoma do you use? Did you try 'Search by ip/password' in '+' menu?

Alternatively, you can try to add your camera manually via '+' menu - 'Add new camera manually'. For that you'll need to find correct URL (you can check it in camera's web admin page, documentation or internet).

Thanks for coming back. Sorry for the delay, but I have been trying every way there is to set the app up. Trying the + from both the search the IP, or adding a cam does nothing. With Windows 8.1 it works with no problem using the Netviewer 2.0 from Defender's 1step app
http://www.defender-usa.com/1step/
I'm using version 15.9.1. I see there is a Night Owl DVR setup and I tried that too, but no go. That's the only DVR setup there is. It says it supports my cams, but I need the DVR setup.
Defender
8CH PRO Security DVR
Is there anyway you can add the Defender DVR?
When I do try an IP cam (which mine aren't) I get the example below.
xeoma.png
not ip cam

That won't do it. I really want this to work, but with Linux Mint 17.2 it's a no go.
Thanks again for the comeback

Hello!

As we can see, you're using incorrect data in 'Universal camera' module's settings. You can check camera's documentation (or internet) to find the correct URL for your Defender DVR.

It should look approximately like this: http://IPADDRESS/stillimgCHANNEL.jpg (IPADDRESS AND CHANNEL should be replaced with your camera's ip address and channel (1, 2 etc.))

Please contact us via e-mail, so we could help you: http://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/contacts/

The IP from my ISP and client port is 5000 to see my cams when not in my network. I have a dual boot system. While using Windows. The client port when bringing the cams up locally is 9000, so to bring my cams up with Netviewer and Windows the IP is http://192.168.1.4:9000. I'm looking at the cams now. The DVR does not save as individual pix (jpg etc...). It saves as video. To show what Netviewer looks like.

Netviewer works fine while using Windows, but I want to see my cams on the Mint side of my system. Xemoa is almost the same as ZoneMinder and with ZoneMinder I'd need a video capture card and that can't be done with a laptop other than spending well over $200 and I don't think that would work either, because the DVR does not save as individual pix, so it looks like the only way to see my cams is my TV, or Windows and I hate MS Windows and never use Windows if I don't have too. The only other way I can see using Mint would be to buy IP cams. Thanks anyway.

Hello!

Please try 'Search by IP/password' using port 9000 first and 5000 then (see screenshot).

>It should look approximately like this: http://IPADDRESS/stillimgCHANNEL.jpg (IPADDRESS AND CHANNEL should be replaced with your camera's ip address and channel (1, 2 etc.))

It was an example of URL. You can check the correct URL in camera's documentation or internet.

I gave up on the DVR. I bought a HOSAFE IP cam. It's getting closer to bring it up, but still no image. I'm using version 15.10. 7 of Xeoma now. Here is a pic of what I'm seeing and the URL of the cam.

The URL.
[1280x720 25 fps h264 2Mb] rtsp://192.168.1.11/live0.264

Does it look right?
Thanks

Hello!

Is camera in the same network as the device with Xeoma Server?

URL address depends on your camera's brand, but it seems ok.

Although the cam is not in the list. The cam is a HOSAFE 1MB1W HD IP Camera and yes with the same network. The URL address shows in the router and the cam is hooked to the router.
Thanks

Hello!

Please check that necessary ports are forwarded: http://portforward.com/

You can also try the following URLs ('+' - Add new camera manually):

rtsp://IPADDRESS:554//live1.264

rtsp://IPADDRESS:554//live0.264

Please replace IPADDRESS with your camera's ip address.
