History of Xeoma version updates: from beginning till today

I just downloaded and purchased this beta version because I really want the motion tracking feature. Problem is, I don't see anywhere how to implement it. Can you please tell me how to set it up?

Hi Lisa,

Here's how you get the motion tracking on: go to Layouts menu, select Turn on visualization of movement and you'll see green square brackets around a moving object:

Actually, the feature's on by default so plase make sure that you are using the latest beta on both the server and the client sides.

I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood. I thought by motion tracking you meant that the software makes the camera that has a PTZ be able to move and follow the motion that it detects.

In an open source program I was using, I was able to program the camera to automatically pan/tilt/zoom in on the area of detected motion. Reason I am looking for this feature is, I have my camera aimed at my front gate, but without auto-tracking, by the time they go down the path to my front door, they are out of camera range. With the auto-tracking feature, the camera follows the person all the way to my front door. By that time, they are really close and I can get a real clear view of them. So for me, it's really a very important feature. However, they didn't have a Mac version, and my PC couldn't handle the load, so I went looking elsewhere.

I tried other Mac security systems, but found them limited, until I stumbled on yours. However, I ran into some major bugs that made the program completely unusable, and I had almost gave up on it when I remembered that I had indeed downloaded & installed the beta version (because of wanting the tracking feature). Deleted it and installed the stable version, and all the errors disappeared, the software is now working perfectly.

All that said, I absolutely love your software. It's the very best out there. And I like the fact that you are diligently and actively developing it to be even better. I am really hoping that the auto-tracking I described is one of the features you have on your roadmap. If not, would you consider adding it?

We are planning to add this feature. So please help us to understand your request better and answer few questions.
Please describe a little bit more - how do you see the work of the program? How does this feature work in other programs that you used before? For example - first general view, then when motion is detected - max zoom and movement tracking (following the moving object) and then, let's say, every 10 seconds camera gets back to the general view for 4 (?) seconds, and so on. What would be the desirable scheme?

Solved the issue with auto searching camera by IP address in Universal Camera settings.

Thanks for the ARM version! It saved me yesterday! The free packages I tried before discovering Xeoma were so fiddly, and in the end wouldn't connect to my H264 camera feeds. Your product found the feeds straight away! Many thanks!

One request: please could you upload some instructions for how to set up Xeoma on the Raspberry Pi? I struggled myself, but thankfully came across a question on this forum by another user that indirectly helped me. I think others will struggle too.

Thanks for sharing your opinion with us.

We’re still working on improving Xeoma for ARM based processors, there’s no ffmpeg (decoding rtsp stream) option added yet, so it’s not possible to use rtsp streaming there.
