Which Cameras?

Postby ave13co » Tue May 10, 2016 2:21 am

Does anyone know of a list of which cameras will actually work with Linux? I have been emailing sellers all day at ebay and Amazon but none will give a straight answer. They kind of dance around the question.
I also find that most cameras(many) software is Android(Linux) but will not work with a Linux OS. This is perplexing. I bought a Hosafe camera and had it working with xeoma but the camera wanted an update of Quicktime(Apple).
I tried using the Linux equivelent but didnt take. Sent that camera back and now looking.

Any help will be appreciated, ave13co

Are they USB or IP cameras? If they're IP cameras, any should work.

That is good news. However, the Hosafe cameras will not. Like I said, they want an updated software called Quicktime which is Apple Or Windows ONLY. I need an IP camera but dont know which one will work with Linux

Let me rephrase my question....

Can anyone give me a thumbs up on a particular camera brand and model that will actually work with linux?

Sure, why don't you take a look at HikVision ds-2cd2032f-i or D-Link DCS 2230 or Falcon Eye FE-IPC-DL100P. They are of quite affordable price and they do work on Linux. Or are you in search for cameras with other speccific features?
