Client PC calculator

Postby shoknshok » Tue Oct 11, 2016 3:39 am

We are deploying a system having 15 servers, each control 16 cameras. In control center, we'd like to put a client PC (running on linux) to control all 15 servers in the system.
Now I am meeting a problem in calculating client PC which have ability to view live stream at least 60 cameras (preview res: 480p ~720p) at the same time(using multi-server mode).
I also try on this link http://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/help/calculator/#calculator but it just calculates for a client-server PC not for a client-only PC.
So any one can help me to choose which configuration is suitable in this situation?
Thanks!

Hello! Generally speaking, any machine that is not entirely outdated should be able to handle this. CPU can be any of the i7, a GeForce graphics card should do. The Windows version of Xeoma also supports hardware acceleration of decoding (it applies to Quick Sync and CUDA technologies, so you can take advantage of any GeForce starting from 400 series). In order to minimize the load for this client machine, you can use a variety of ways:
1) Dual streaming. Set the first URL in the "Universal camera" module to show lower resolution, and the second - to show higher resolution (more about it here: http://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/articles ... ming-h264/).
2) Video decoding. If your servers are powerful enough, you can go Layouts menu -> Client decoding settings and Disable the Video decoding on the client side for live preview (more about it here: http://felenasoft.com/xeoma/en/descript ... ce_layouts).

Thanks for your quick reply but we are going to use Xeoma on Linux and as I read from Xeoma's main page that:
"Xeoma can use video graphic's card hardware acceleration for increased performance (only for Windows)".
So that I afraid of supporting graphics card on Linux is not available, is it?
Thanks!

Yes, unfortunately, this feature is exclusive to Windows version. However, all the other options are still available to you.
