Motion level Value rEQUEST

Postby korniza » Fri Oct 20, 2017 2:41 pm

Hi Xeoma devs and users,
I was wonder if it possible to get motion level values in numbers (the percentage on video change) so to send them/ grab them from a home automation software. I like to use the ability of manipulating cameras as motion sensors.
So please help!

You can send a HTTP request when a motion module gets triggered. I use this to turn on my front door and garage door lights when motion is detected on my front door path or driveway. Makes it easy to modify as well because I just change the motion module for that specific chain (I have two motion modules, one for recording and one for triggering the lights so they can be both set at different levels).

Getting motion percent could be handy but you will have better luck using the motion module provided by Xeoma (it will be able to process a lot faster then your code accessing the API).

I already used this scenario. it works BUT it just triggers when any motion is detected. It can not say if the trigger is a cat, a person or a track. I have pets inside house, people that delivery packages and neighbors that like to park their car in front of my house door!
As you see different scenarios need to be trigger. It can be done with multiple chains BUT the size is hard to guess it from beginning so a up/down limit is required.

korniza,
Hello! You can adjust Minimal and Maximum sizes of object in several "Motion Detectors" to have specific reactions to all scenarios. Additionally, if you need certain kinds of motion ignored, you can adjust the slider Disregard motion shorter than.

Thank you Admin_P for response.
I know the way to do it by using different "paths" in xeoma. the problem is that my screen is getting full of lines and boxes (may be on next version you can create a way to build our plugins) and I had to do it for more that 1 camera!
Lack of true API on XEOMA, is getting harder more things to interact with it.
I feel that client interface is got old and not so glamour. Also as I see more opensource and even paid surveillance software is getting to embedded platforms (raspberry pi) with cutting edge features like face recognition. I know you have one, I had paid for it, it never worked and now I do not like to pay extra for a pro license as it does not provide any service from you (cloud storage, AI face/thing recognition). it just use my resources (cpu, hdd and so on)!
Also as I see "big boys" coming to your "business", I put my 2cents on bet that if you do not perform any changes on license policy and provide cutting edge solutions, time will be limited for XEOMA (hope not).

As an used of PAID subscription for the last 4 years, I'm disappointed that opensource software can provide a human detection or even a face recognition but still here is a extra PAID feature that just unlocks the option for LIMITED PERIOD without engaging XEOMA resources (cloud storage/cpu/bandwidth).
