Trojan:Win32/Azden.A!cl detected by Windows Defender

Postby cjtrevor » Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:22 pm

re Beta 17.11.24 Windows 64

Windows Defender detects Trojan:Win32/Azden.A!cl and deletes the file.

Assume it is a false positive but are you able to confirm and resolve with Microsoft?

Hello! Yeah, this is false detection on the Defender's side, you can ignore it. Xeoma is completely free of any malware (you can make a scan yourself, e.g. via VirusTotal). We'll try and reach out to Microsoft but, sadly, there is no guarantee we'll get a response in any reasonable amount of time.

Unfortunately Windows Defender deletes the file by itself at intervals, so the only solution I could find is install the previous version.

I have the same problem. I can't successfully download the Windows installer because defender immediately deletes the file.

This is the first time I've tried Xeoma and I have to say, this does not fill me with confidence. You've pretty much fallen out of the running at the first hurdle.

Is it detecting the client or the server as a virus? I run the beta client on the latest Win 10 and have no issues (but my server is linux).

Guys, we're looking into it right now.

It doesn't happen on all Windows 10 machines, we're trying to find a pattern/workaround now.

If your Win10's Defender doesn't delete Xeoma, you're in the clear.

And of course Xeoma doesn't have Trojans, it isn't a Trojan itself. More info on a fix is to follow, please stand by!

Good news guys,

We've submitted Xeoma to the False Positives center for Microsoft's Windows Defender, and it confirmed that Xeoma doesn't have and isn't a Trojan. Feel free to make sure for yourself https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission

We're now waiting for update of their bases and hopefully Xeoma won't be falsely detected anymore. It's annoying :|

OK, I'm getting the word that Defender's bases were updated today and that Xeoma is no longer detected as a threat.

Could you please update your Defender and see if it still detects Xeoma? We'd appreciate your feedback!
