RTSP Invalid Username or Password

Postby s.voulaz » Mon Dec 18, 2017 3:10 pm

Hello,
I'm using Xeoma (17.11.24) with a bunch of HikVision DS-2CD2442FWD-IW cameras and I'm getting problems with RTSP authentication.
As long as RTSP authentication is disabled all the cameras work fine, but when base RTSP authentication is enabled, then I get the message "INVALID USERNAME OR PASSWORD FOR THIS URL" shown on the preview.
In the "Universal Camera" dialog I tried to enter username and password as separate fields, then I tried also by specifying them in the url, i.e., rtsp://username:password@192.168.1.xxx/Streaming/Channels/1
Oddly enough, after working for hours trying to understand what was wrong, at least one camera started working... I'm banging my head against the wall!
Is there a way to dump/check server settings to diagnose these problems?
Thank you in advance and best regards,
Stefano

UPDATE: be patient! It takes quite a long time for the changes to take effect - several minutes, as per my experience. And no, restarting the server doesn't have any effect.
In fact, I left for a break and when I was back at the console... voilà! All the streams where correctly displayed! Need some explanation, though...

BR
Stefano

Hikvision has a severe security check.
It is locked with several inconsistencies.
Unlocked in a certain time.

Hello! Yes, Hikvision is probably locking the camera access - that is why it takes a while to connect. You may want to keep RTSP authentication off.
