Is there a way to disable image refresh while in client?

Postby avonnieda » Fri May 31, 2013 8:17 pm

Hello,

Just purchased Xeoma, I have one camera, more on the way :). Here's my question.. When I'm on the home screen, the video streaming from my camera is constantly updated. This is great for if I want to watch it, but during setup (I'm doing this remotely over VNC), it's taking up all of my bandwidth, making it nearly impossible to work. Is the only option to disable the camera module so that Xeoma will stop recording while I'm working in the client? I'm just looking for a way to stop the display of the video in the client, not the recording. Maybe this seems silly, I don't know, but thought I would ask.

Thanks,

-Adam

Hello Adam,

Thanks for your feedback.

Right now there’s no option like that in Xeoma. But there will be an option of changing the fps on the client side in one of the upcoming versions of Xeoma. So it will be of help to reduce the bandwidth load significantly, while still having the max fps on the server side.

Hope it helps!

Try clicking: "Main Menu -> Turn all Cameras off" to stop the refresh while you're working. Then repeat the clicks and turn all cameras on when you finish.

Not quite so. The method above will turn the cameras off, so that it will also affect recording (cameras that are not working will not record either). The OP's requirement goes:

Adam, you can reduce fps of preview only to 1 frame/minute which seems to be enough to reduce the load. The recording will still be in the usual fps. The option is available in Layout menu in the panel below. Select 'Change fps' and set it to 1 minute or whatever value fits.

Hope this helps!
