Xeoma 20.4.28 using root access folders for recording

Postby tkhyla » Sat May 16, 2020 1:45 pm

After update to Xeoma 20.4.28 version all new recording folders is created with root access. Not with my normal user access.
In previous version all folders was created with user access.
Any idea why and how to change back?

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.4

Hello,

This is a feature of the new version. In the next Xeoma version it'll be available to use a user's access rights that is used to launch Xeoma under.

I'm using 20.7.31 and have this problem. Where do I configure which user rights will be used?

Hi, tkhyla.

Please update, current Xeoma version allows to use user's access rights.

I just upgraded to 20.12.18 from 18.7.10 and having this exact issue, all archive files and folders are under root. How exactly do I change it to a particular user?

Same issue. Asked Felena, the answer:

###QUOTE###
The archive files created by Xeoma have the following permissions: -rw-r--r--
This indicates that any user is allowed to read the files, but only root is allowed to change/move them. This is important for overall stability of Xeoma's archives, since an unexpected change in a file can lead to trouble.
If you need to back the archives up in their entirety using a cloud service, you may want use an SH script that would copy the files into a different folder and provide a different set of permissions for them. Sync that directory with the cloud service.
###UNQUOTE###

As Xeoma recording directory is very big in size, I opted for another solution: as files are root owned but visible to everyone I tried to change ownership of folders under XeomaArchive (just folders, not archives) to allow syncthing to write his necessary .stfolder, in this way it worked for me.
