Recording issue and motion sensitivity

Postby brentbiggs » Sat Jul 13, 2013 7:00 pm

I have two cameras: Logitech 700i, Logitech 700n. The cameras detects fine. The video displays in high and low resolution fine. I do have two issues with the software.

1. It attempts to record, but it only records a 48byte file. It generates a new file every time it detects motion. I've tried changing the recording location, using the first "Full URL address" option, using the direct saving option, etc.
2. "Current Level" under the motion control never goes above 2. I have "Sensitivity Level" set to 0. It makes it really hard to tune without knowing what it is seeing. A filter or filter option that would be nice to have is to show an overlay of no motion vs. motion rejected vs. motion detected.

1. The thing is the archive is mostly created for viewing the footage in the program, with the help of our built-in player. If you would like to view recording with an external third party player, or control length or size of recordings, please use the "Save to file" module. By the way, you can choose your own recording location, the type of stored files, etc. in "Archive and Preview" or "Save to File" settings (not the camera's).

2. We are always open for any suggestions and are trying to make Xeoma convenient and functional for everybody. But your demand is not clear enough to us. Could you describe it in more details? What should it and how should it work?

1. I believe you misunderstood my issue. The program is attempting to archive, but doesn't. 48byte files aren't going to store much of anything. I just checked and I have 456792 files with nothing in them. Currently, I can't play archived video from within Xeoma.

2. I've attached a modified screen capture to illustrate what I'm trying to describe. So lets say I have an area marked for motion. Two actions happen: A bird and a car move into frame. Currently I would have to guess at the sensitivity. If there was a way to display what was being filtered in/out. Yellow = motion detected, but ignored. Green = motion triggered. That kind of feedback would be helpful for tuning the motion settings.

Sorry for misunderstanding! The phrase

must have led me the wrong way (by the way, storage location should be changed in Preview and Archive /Save to File module, not in camera settings).

Now, looks like we need to go deeper into the issue. Can you send us here or email to our support screenshots of settings of your Universal Camera, Motion Detector and Archive modules (feel free to blur the credentials)?

Are there any other modules in the chains? What OS is this? Do you use the latest version of Xeoma?

Regarding pt#2, that's a great suggestion. We do plan to enhance motion detection feature to bring face and license plate detection somehwere in the future, so we'd be happy to consider this request as well. Please let us get back to you then with questions on how to make it more comfortable for users.

Thanks for your assistance in making Xeoma better!
