I'm seeing another problem with archive, a good part of the last day is missing from it.

Thanks for the report! Could you please send us to tech support some details:
1) What version of Xeoma did you have before the update to the beta?
2) What OS is Xeoma used on?
3) What camera settings do you have in Xeoma? We're not after any sensitive data like passwords, you can blur it. But settings on the whole are important.
4) Are there archive files still being written on the disk while they are not viewable in archive player?

Timezones are correctly setup in xeoma client and server.

1)I was previously using 16.8.17. The only problem with that one was the DST issue
2)Server is 64 bit Linux, client is Windows.
3)I have nothing special for camera settings. But a screenshot is attached below.
4)Yes, they are still written to disk. I can see new files in the archive directory that are only minutes old. If I wait until the next day, the previous day's video is available in the client.

Wow, we don't seem to be able to repeat the issue. Could you please send us to tech support some details:

OK I decided to give it another chance and I did clean install of new beta. This time everything is working fine, including time zone and archive playback. Previously I did upgrade from 16.8.17. My system was Ubuntu running from Docker container on Synology NAS. Now I installed new beta under CentOS 7 also running from Docker container. So I'm not sure what actually helped, different system or clean install.

It's all ok for me now. After deleting the settings file and redo all the config from scratch, my issues are gone. Thank you Xeoma support.

Running on Windows 10.

It seems that doing a complete reinstall is what fixes it.

Hi

Could you please explain exactly what you mean by complete reinstall?

I downloaded the install package, ran it, selected install, to install over the top of the existing install. This does not seem to have fixed.

Do you mean I have to uninstall? Do I need to manually delete any folders or files? And then install again?

In doing this can I keep my archive and can I keep my settings? How would I do this? It will be a pain to set up from start again because many cameras all with individually set motion areas and settings etc.

To Felenasoft - will there be an upgrade that will fix the issues without having to do the complete reinstall?

What I did was run "xeoma -install -removeall", but at least for Linux, this can also be achieved quite easily by deleting some directories and also deleting or moving the archive.

I already tried moving the archive and restarting the server to force it to recreate it, but the issue persisted. So I got tired of it and moved the archive to a different directory and set everything back up again from scratch. It wasn't fun but it fixed it. One thing I didn't try was deleting (or better yet, rename) the settings.dat and restarting it to see if only setting it back up, but keeping the archive, will fix it.

It's unfortunate that this is required. A reinstall of this magnitude shouldn't be required when upgrading from the previous version.

Unfortunately my issue is back. After a 2 or 3 days Xeoma running it stops recording to the archive. I mean it's recording but only still gray image. It also shows grey still image for live preview. There are two ways to fix this: restart Xeoma server or go to camera settings and uncheck "Use H.264 stream (from Archive) in single camera view mode". Then it will start showing preview just fine and I can go to settings again and check this option and it will be fine for another 2 or 3 days. And I'm currently running final version 16.10.31.

Hello! The issue seems to be caused by H.264 decoding, the grey picture is basically video artifacts. This usually implies that the camera is unable to send the full data. How many machines are viewing the camera simultaneously? Some cameras have rather weak processors that can't handle the load.

Nobody is viewing live feed. It happens on its own when nobody is connected to the server/camera. I find it when I connect to the server and see that live feed is not working and archive stopped recording couple hours ago. And also leaving "Use H.264 stream (from Archive) in single camera view mode" turned of permanently doesn't help. And it wasn't like that in previous version so something definitely changed.

I have the same issue with the same fix. It happens randomly on two cameras. One of the camera is: http://en.jovision.com/en/product/info/13.shtml
Also, the stream works fine in VLC and also using the camera proprietary software. The issue started happening after the latest update: Xeoma version 2016-10-31. Is there a way to downgrade to the previous version?

Sorry that you're experiencing an issue with the latest release. Sure, you can downgrade.

Previous version of Xeoma can be found in Xeoma folder on your computer in an Oldversions subfolder.
Or download the correct version from the Changes page

If the program is installed, to roll back to the previous version you must first uninstall your current version. This can be done via the Main menu – Install - Uninstall (except for the settings and archive). Then run the previous version's executable file.
If the program is not installed, simply close the current executable file, make sure that Xeoma stopped working, and then run the executable file of the previous version of Xeoma (see above where you can take it from).

Does it help?
